Master (Unfinished)
“Master...Are you home?” Young Tara raced up the dark staircase in the hopes of finding Kai, her owner, at the top. Her tail hit one of the loose splinters in the cheap wooden handle and she cried out in pain as it pierced her. She could feel the blood run and knew it was probably one of the bigger ones... but she didnt stop running even for a second to tend to it. If she was even 1 minute late with Kai’s medication... She didnt stop to think about it. She just continued up the stairs, exhausted and out of breath. Somehow her legs kept moving, as if to say that they didnt want her to be punished, either. Finally, she reached the top and pushed open the door in a panic. It was so dark in the room, the light of the hallway only shone on a small wall clock. Looking at the clock, she read 6:18. She gasped in horror. She was supposed to be back by 6:15. Kai was going to kill her! She prayed he wasnt home to see this... but she could feel him. His anger filled the room, even if he didnt make any sound. Tara was never late... But this time, on her way back, she noticed a truck speeding towards a small child who had gotten away from his mother and dashed into the street. She knew she risked being late, but... she couldnt just do nothing. Her kindness was about to be paid for. broke, spilling dark red, flat mints all over the floor. She heard the bottle smash and closed her eyes, bracing the next attack that was sure to come. Sure enough, as soon as she did, an She stepped into the room, clutching the small brown bag that she was sent to pick up. The door slammed behind her and before she could turn around, was smashed across the back of her head by a heavy blunt instrument. She hit the ground before she took her next breath. The contents of the bag fell out, a small glass bottle. The bottle hit the floor and there was another hit to the back of the head, slamming her jaw against the ground. While she lay there in half consciousness, Kai flipped her onto her back and grabbed her shirt. He screamed something to her, but all she heard were blurred sounds and a ringing in one ear. She knew that it was because blood was leaking out of it. She could feel it... She knew what that felt like by now... Out of her other ear, she heard him grab his mints off of the floor and leave, leaving her in the middle of the floor bleeding. Soon, someone walked in and sighed. “Tara...again? When are you going to learn? Master Kai is unforgiving... You’ve got to stop making him mad like this. ...Let me clean you up.” Wiping her face clean of the blood and running her black eyes under cool water, Tara could see a girl with short blond hair in a bow. “...Thanks, Karen.” “...What did you do this time?” “Got here late with his blood pills...” Tara whispered. She could hear Karen gasp lightly. “...What the hell were you thinking?!” She whispered loudly. “His blood pills?! You know how Master gets without them! What was so important that you got back late?!” “...A child...in the street...” Tara began. “I told you about saving those humans! They wont mean anything if you die!” “....I know...but...”
